So this past weekend, Mommy surprised Daddy with a weekender in the North Carolina mountains. It is the height of the leaf season up there and the scenery is gorgeous! Daddy LOVES the mountains (so does Mommy) and Autumn is their FAVORITE season, so it was the PERFECT time to get away. What Daddy didn't know, was that there would be two surprises. The first is the place we stayed, and the second, some VERY SPECIAL visitors came. Here's how it went down:
We left on Thursday afternoon to head about 2.5 hours west of Greensboro, just outside of Wilkesboro. We drove through some very scenic areas en route to our destination, a luxurious mountain hideaway! Mommy doesn't want to say where because she doesn't want anyone to know where this is because it is so special, here are some pictures to prove it.

Daddy was BLOWN AWAY by the cabin, it was so beautiful, so cozy, the epitome (funny how I know all these SAT words, huh?) of a quint weekend getaway cabin. So, here we are relaxing up in the mountains, taking in the clean, crisp Autumn air when Daddy hears a knock at the door. "Who the heck could THAT be?" Daddy asked. Mommy giggled and said, "Don't worry, you know him." Puzzled, Daddy went to the door to see who it was, he didn't expect there to be any company on this weekend getaway. When Daddy opened the door, lo and behold, UNCLE PAT!! WOW, what a TOTAL SURPRISE! Uncle Pat, Aunt Julie, and cousins Clarissa, Brittney, Gabby, Pat Jr., and Julieann all came up from Texas to share the weekend with us. I have never met them before, and they had never been to North Carolina before so what a PERFECT excuse to get together as a family!
