My Trip To Virginia

Hey Everyone, time for a post-Labor Day update.

We had a very nice weekend because we all took a trip up to Virginia because Daddy's school, USC, was going to play the football team of the University of Virginia. This was our first trip together to Virginia and I must say, it seems like a nice place.

The University of Virginia is located in Charlottesville, which is about 3.5 hours from my home. I slept most of the way up because Mommy and Daddy were smart to plan our drive up at the same time as my morning nap, so the time seemed to go by quickly. Daddy said the drive up Highway 29 was very relaxing and would probably be beautiful in about a month when all the leaves have changed color.

We got to C'ville in the early afternoon and explored the town a little bit. It is very charming according to Mommy, she particularly liked the "Downtown Mall," which is a pedestrian-only section of town lined with old and new buildings housing shops, galleries, theaters, and lots of restaurants. Mommy said it reminded her a little bit of Germany with all the outdoor cafes. Here is a picture of Mommy and me:


We also strolled through the University of Virginia, which was founded by Thomas Jefferson. I don't know who he is, but Daddy said he was a very important man in American history, and that I would learn all about him when I got older. Here are some pictures from our wanderings:

This is Mommy, Daddy and me on "the Lawn," which leads up to the Rotunda, and which is the original campus of the University of Virginia. On each side, there are little dorm rooms where students live. We had a very nice man who was a "fourth year," student at UVA show us one of the rooms.

This is one side of his room, he has his own wood-burning fireplace! Daddy said the room was so small that if you stood in the middle of it, and grabbed a cat by its tail and swung it around, it would hit all four walls (not that Daddy would ever do such a thing!)Another picture of Mommy and me at the Rotunda

USC went on to beat Virginia 52-7. We had a GREAT time there and will definitely go back some time and see Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home, as well as drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is very close by.
